AI Research Chair Program

Canadian universities play a critical role in the evolution of our country’s AI ecosystem.

Scale AI is investing up to $10M to fund Research Chairs in the field of AI applied to intelligent supply chains.

One of Scale AI’s strategic objectives is to establish an ecosystem that positions Canada among the world leaders in the field of AI applied to supply chains.

A key component to achieving this objective is the involvement of Canadian universities and their ability to conduct research that expands our understanding of AI and its applications in the field of intelligent supply chains.

To this day, Scale AI has supported 4 AI research chairs.

Program structure

Each Research Chair must have a minimum value of $2M and must be operational for a total of five calendar years:

  • Scale AI will reimburse eligible costs of up to $1M associated with each Research Chair incurred before March 31, 2023
  • The Canadian university that will host the Research Chair will contribute a minimum of $1M over the five-year lifetime of the Research Chair.

Process

Each proposed program is subjected to an objective and transparent review and assessment process, beginning with an eligibility assessment.

A set of detailed guidelines will be provided to you once we receive notice of your interest in applying.

Please note that we are not taking in any additional submissions for this program as of April 1st, 2023.
